C2 provided architectural design services for the new Kasselman Solar headquarters in Menands, NY. Kasselman purchased a warehouse that needed to be renovated at 279 Broadway to become the future home of their operations.

It was during this time, that the Covid-19 pandemic struck prompting the owner to rethink plans for the space. The original floor plan for the administrative team was about 4,100 square feet. As Covid-19 concerns grew, it became clear that this footprint would no longer serve the company’s needs. The health and well-being of Kasselman employees drove the need for a redesign.

C2 held multiple planning sessions with the client to identify space utilization needs and address COVID-19 health and safety concerns. Together with the client, a new plan was put in motion. The redesign allocated an additional 2,100 square feet for the administrative space—50% larger than the original plan.

KASSELMAN SOLAR HEADQUARTERS

The new office floorplan promotes social distancing and fostering better hygiene practices. Additional COVID-19 design considerations included designated entry and exit points, employee circulation patterns, and the selection of material surfaces that are antimicrobial, germ resistant or easily disinfected. C2 also evaluated numerous mechanical systems for the building with a focus on overall air quality.
