Eastern Contractors Association
Building Industry Center Renovation

Albany, NY

In the 1970’s, the Build Industry Center was the first building constructed in the Albany Airport Parkway. This building is home to the Eastern Contractors Association (ECA), but also to several other construction associations.

The building had only had a few cosmetic interior updates and an HVAC system renovation in a 30-year window. ECA owners knew a renovation was eminent if they were going to continue serving their members.

The project initiated with goals to replace the roof and open up the floor plan to improve circulation and make better use of the space. During demolition, an asbestos issue arose that later led to the entire interior building being gutted. The asbestos abatement issue ultimately led to a redesign of the space that included modernizing the overall aesthetic.

The center now features a more functional, updated use of the existing space. The redesigned meeting room includes video-conferencing capabilities, and the modern lobby design is welcoming and features energy-efficient lighting.

ADA compliant restrooms were also a part of the scope of work.
