Caroga Lake Volunteer Fire Company celebrated the design of a new fire station in a groundbreaking ceremony held on Wednesday, July 1, 2020. Joined by local dignitaries and members of the community, Chief Howard Dutcher and Fire Company President, Bob Sullivan shared the history of the existing 70-year old facility, and talked about the need for a larger facility to house equipment and to better serve the Town of Caroga and all adjoining communities. It has taken over 10 years of planning, designing, and fundraising to accomplish this project.
The 10,000 square foot fire station will be replacing the existing station which was built in 1952. The new facility was designed by C2 Design group and is being built by LeChase Construction. The new $2.1 million fire station will be located at 3237 Route 29A in Gloversville, NY. The facility features 4 truck bays with a larger storage area to accommodate equipment needs. There are also dedicated spaces for training, meeting, and an administrative area. Additionally, the facility includes a ready room, full kitchen, and a recreation room.
