C2 Design Group held a ribbon cutting and open house at their new office located at 24 Airport Road within the Schenectady County Airport Park.
The ribbon cutting was attended by the Capital Region Chamber, Senator Jim Tedesco, Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh; Chair of Schenectady Metroplex Development Authority, Ray Gillen; and family and friends.
Principal and owner, Michael Roman knew he needed additional space for his growing business. C2 began designing and planning a new office in 2017. The 3-acre site was acquired in September with an investment of $1.7 million to build a 15,000 square foot building. The larger office was needed to provide more space to hire additional architects and marketing staff.
The new office features an open space design with plenty of natural daylighting, several dedicated collaboration spaces, and a modern kitchen with a center island for staff to congregate, converse, and connect.
Sustainability was at the heart of design considerations that include solar panels on the roof, an electric vehicle charging station, and LED lighting on automated timers with infrared motion sensors. Nest Learning Thermostats automatically adapt to changing seasons and occupants’ schedules. These design elements have allowed the office to sustain and support all electrical energy costs, making it an electric net zero headquarters.
The firm will continue to expand its team as part of its growth strategy and will better meet the needs of public and private sector clients located in the greater Capital District. ““I am thrilled to have moved the C2 Design Group team to the Airport Business Park.” said Michael Roman, owner. “It is a fantastic opportunity and prime location for us to continue to grow and expand our business while remaining in Schenectady County, which has been our home for the last 10 years.”
