The C2 team returned to the City Mission of Schenectady's Distribution Center two years after the pandemic shutdown the volunteer program.
Team members packed non-perishable food items including snacks, cereal, soup, pasta, and bread and milk cards.
Over the course of two hours, the team packed 925 bags for students participating in the Weekend Backpack program. The Weekend Backpack program addresses the hunger and nutrition needs of elementary school children in Schenectady County by providing a reliable source of nutritious food to children each Friday during the school year. Children and families in 19 elementary schools from Schenectady, Duanesburg, Mohonasen, Schalmont and Scotia-Glenville benefit directly.
At the height of the pandemic, the C2 team packed backpacks on the last night the Distribution Center was open to volunteers. C2 staff enjoyed returning to volunteer their time and give back to the those continuing to face food insecurity.
