Schenectady County
Department of Motor Vehicles

Schenectady, NY

The Schenectady County Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) new location at 2025 State Street opened in the fall of 2017. The DMV location is a newly renovated, former IHOP that had been vacant since 2014. The move came after the former DMV location was sold to the founder of the New York BizLab and CEO of Transfinder, for an expansion of the BizLab business accelerator located at 251 State Street in downtown Schenectady.

SCHENECTADY COUNTY DMV

The 6,800 square foot building allowed the County to modernize their facilities and be more attentive to customer needs. Dedicated kiosks and stations for processing drivers licenses and learner permits were added. The existing roof was replaced with 2,800 square feet of EPDM and 4,000 square feet of asphalt shingles. The new location offers additional parking spaces and a larger waiting area for patrons that has improved customer service.
