Schenectady County Community College will move its workforce development program into a vacant building in downtown Schenectady, New York by fall 2015, nearly six years after the college acquired the building. The school is renovating the first floor of the three-story building at 201 State St., donated to SCCC in 2009 by the Kindl family. The workforce development program provides noncredit courses and job training.

Fall start eyed for $20M Schenectady development

SCHENECTADY ? Construction on a $20 million housing and retail project on Schenectady?s lower State Street corridor could begin this fall if the city Planning Commission approves the project this week. With one final property in hand, the developers behind the massive Robinson Block project will go before the commission at its monthly meeting Wednesday night. Highbridge Development of Schenectady and Prime Companies of Cohoes are requesting a site plan review for a demolition and construction project that will span six properties on the 200 block of State Street and one on Erie Boulevard for a total of 1.1 acres.
