Two major downtown redevelopment projects in upstate New York,one in Schenectady, the other in Troy,got a big boost Thursday.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced $1.5 million in funding for the developers of Monument Square in Troy, and $1.2 million for the so-called Robinson block in Schenectady.

They were among $60 million in funding awarded in the Capital Region as part of the Regional Economic Development Council awards, a statewide competition now in its fourth year.
